Teaching has always been an important part of my creative life. Sharing ideas with others, and passing on skills and techniques, is something that I enjoy. My studio and its location have given me the freedom to design a series of small specialised classes and workshops for students who want to explore a wide range of decorative and sculptural skills and experimental firing techniques. I have built a sound framework for learning here at the Museum, and have established the right balance between teaching and making. I encourage a relaxed atmosphere and I focus on students individual needs and a shared group experience. |

Experimental Ceramic WorkshopThis course will explore the use of clay in an experimental way, using a variety of hand building and mould making techniques. Looking at how to achieve a variety of surfaces, exploring texture, colour and glaze with an emphasis on test pieces within the making. There will be an opportunity to work with paper clay as part of this process, working on personal design projects; supporting the development of individual ideas. Students will be encouraged to use sketchbooks for their research and to document all experiments and tests.
